Lots to Update on!

2-week diet

I started a 2-week diet Monday and have lost 5 lbs in the past 4 days.  I went on this diet to cleanse my system and give me a “fresh” start to eating healthier.  This diet is not based on calorie count.  It is designed to burn off body fat by chemical action (of the foods you can eat while on the diet).

After this 2-week diet is done, I’ll start back up with my Slim in 6 workouts.  One way or another I am going to get my body back into shape for the Renaissance Faire so I can wear most of my garb.  lol  Which reminds me…  I have several skirts and tops cut out and waiting for me to just sew them together.  I better get on that before July 10th.  :)

Slim in 6 Workouts

I had stopped my previous attempt at the workouts because I got really sick (bad bad cold) and then went on vacation to visit my family and such.

Knitting

I have designed 2 new knitting patterns for mittens.  Several people have offered to test knit them for me.  Once the test knitting is all done, I’ll submit them to Knit Picks IDP (Independent Designers Program) to sell them online.  Can’t wait to find out if they accept them into their program or not.  Sooo exciting!

New Phone

I got myself a new phone – the iPhone – and I am sooo happy with it.  I can have my knitting videos on it to reference at any time and it has a pdf reader on it so I can now scan my patterns in and save them as pdf to read on my phone too.  Now I just have one iPhone to carry around instead of a phone, ipod, patterns, and be near a TV or computer to watch my knitting videos.

Well, that’s all for now…

BBFN Everyone!

Digital Scrapbooking

Posted by KnitterGirl39 on Jul 9, 2009 in Ramblings

One of my many hobbies is Scrapbooking.  It goes along with my photography hobby well.  A few years ago I came across Digital Scrapbooking and fell in love with it.  It pulls together another of my hobbies of working with graphics and such.

Some of the benefits of Digital Scrapbooking are:
-    Reuse, reuse, reuse.  With digital you can reuse all your ‘papers, elements, photographs, etc’ over and over again
-    Cheaper – even with purchasing of the digital kits it is usually cheaper than a kit at the store that you can only use one time
-    You can save your layouts on a cd to view at anytime.
-    You can take your finished layouts to Kinkos and print it to put it into your albums
-    You can add extra embellishments after it is printed for a more ‘textured’ effect
-    You can print multiple copies or a whole book at Shutterfly.com and give it as a gift  (I printed one of my layouts, framed it, and gave it to my parents for their anniversary – you can see it here:  http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=84309&ppuser=44895 )

If anyone is at all interested in Scrapbooking and wants to try out Digital Scrapbooking check out these sites:

http://www.digiscrap101.com -  good lessons
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com -  great site with challenges and a place (gallery) for you to post your layouts and get advice or comments on.  They also have lessons here too and purchasable and free layout/kits.
http://www.rakscraps.com/forums/index.php -  another great site for digital scrapbooking with purchasable and free layouts and tutorials.

I use PaintShop Pro (PSP) to work with my scrapbooking.  It is a great software, easy to learn and doesn’t cost nearly as much as Photoshop (full version).  Photoshop Elements works well too.  There are tutorials all over the internet for PSP and Photoshop.  Some of my favorites are:

My Masters…

Posted by KnitterGirl39 on Mar 26, 2009 in Ramblings

When I got close to finishing up my Masters, it was stated that now I can get more pay at work or get a position in Management.

That is not what I did it for.  I went for my masters as a personal goal.  Also, I love to learn new things (just don’t like the pressure of grades  lol  ).

As Zig Ziglar states:  “What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”

In my opinion, this is very good advise.  Money is important, unfortunately, but that shouldn’t be why someone goes to school.  They should go to enjoy the process and learn in a field they have a strong interest in, not just gives the most pay.  After all, if you are in a job just for the pay and don’t enjoy it, you will have a miserable life.

Another saying we all hear is that “Money can’t buy happiness”.  There are a lot of people who believe it can, but it really can’t.  How can one be truly happy in a job they hate just because of the pay?  Only one’s outlook on life and doing what they enjoy can truly bring happiness.  Money can help, but isn’t the answer.

You have to accept who you are and what makes you happy and go with it.  Strive to make yourself better to achieve your goals.  It is the process of life that we go through that makes us who we are and we are the only ones/things that can make us truly happy.  Sometimes we don’t always know that when bad things happen to us.  We question “Why Me?” and don’t understand.  Later on, as time goes by, we tend to realize that if it wasn’t for that bad thing(s) happening, we wouldn’t be where we are today, or more importantly who we are.

Just remember, it is the process of life that we make for ourselves that is important and that only you can bring yourself happiness…
