I was “doodle knitting” a while back and made these fingerless mits. I liked how they turned out so I wrote up a pattern for it. Would anyone be interested in “testing” out my pattern? Also, I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn, could someone suggest a KP yarn to substitute for it?

One of my many hobbies is Scrapbooking. It goes along with my photography hobby well. A few years ago I came across Digital Scrapbooking and fell in love with it. It pulls together another of my hobbies of working with graphics and such.
Some of the benefits of Digital Scrapbooking are:
- Reuse, reuse, reuse. With digital you can reuse all your ‘papers, elements, photographs, etc’ over and over again
- Cheaper – even with purchasing of the digital kits it is usually cheaper than a kit at the store that you can only use one time
- You can save your layouts on a cd to view at anytime.
- You can take your finished layouts to Kinkos and print it to put it into your albums
- You can add extra embellishments after it is printed for a more ‘textured’ effect
- You can print multiple copies or a whole book at Shutterfly.com and give it as a gift (I printed one of my layouts, framed it, and gave it to my parents for their anniversary – you can see it here: http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=84309&ppuser=44895 )
If anyone is at all interested in Scrapbooking and wants to try out Digital Scrapbooking check out these sites:
I use PaintShop Pro (PSP) to work with my scrapbooking. It is a great software, easy to learn and doesn’t cost nearly as much as Photoshop (full version). Photoshop Elements works well too. There are tutorials all over the internet for PSP and Photoshop. Some of my favorites are:

Mike and I have been extremely busy these past couple weekends working on the cabin. Here are the pix showing how the cabin looked when his brother and him bought it through to what it looks like so far…

We finally have a chance to go up to the cabin and work on the flooring. Hopefully we can get the water heater closet tiled and install the water heater. Then if time we can do the wood flooring in the other rooms, or at least partially.

When I got close to finishing up my Masters, it was stated that now I can get more pay at work or get a position in Management.
That is not what I did it for. I went for my masters as a personal goal. Also, I love to learn new things (just don’t like the pressure of grades lol ).
As Zig Ziglar states: “What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”
In my opinion, this is very good advise. Money is important, unfortunately, but that shouldn’t be why someone goes to school. They should go to enjoy the process and learn in a field they have a strong interest in, not just gives the most pay. After all, if you are in a job just for the pay and don’t enjoy it, you will have a miserable life.
Another saying we all hear is that “Money can’t buy happiness”. There are a lot of people who believe it can, but it really can’t. How can one be truly happy in a job they hate just because of the pay? Only one’s outlook on life and doing what they enjoy can truly bring happiness. Money can help, but isn’t the answer.
You have to accept who you are and what makes you happy and go with it. Strive to make yourself better to achieve your goals. It is the process of life that we go through that makes us who we are and we are the only ones/things that can make us truly happy. Sometimes we don’t always know that when bad things happen to us. We question “Why Me?” and don’t understand. Later on, as time goes by, we tend to realize that if it wasn’t for that bad thing(s) happening, we wouldn’t be where we are today, or more importantly who we are.
Just remember, it is the process of life that we make for ourselves that is important and that only you can bring yourself happiness…

I just got a call from the lady in the cafeteria here at work – she got me a copy of the recipe for their Stone Soup – a really thick creamy chicken with dumplins.

I am almost all moved in. Just mainly the big stuff that will most likely need a moving truck to move. I can’t wait to me completely moved. Tired of running back and forth between the two places. lol
Once I’m done moving in, I need to go through my stash and figure out what yarn I already have to use in the next projects I want to do.
Works in progress (WIP)…
I am working on an afghan knit-a-long that will be done by December. We are doing one block a month through September. October we will stitch it together and in November we will add the edging around it.
I am also working on a second pair of socks (toe-up with magic loop method).
I still have another afghan I have been working on at times that has 4 different types of patterns and 4 different colors for a total of 16 squares. I am only about 1/4 done though.
I am in another knit-a-long for the Sweater Sampler in Jacqueline Fee’s book Sweater Workshop. I am about 1/2 way done with it.
